Cyprus – March 2024

St Nicholas church. A short walk from our hotel. It was busy here in the evenings as its a well known spot for watching a Cyprus sunset.

I think the relentless dull, grey, dreary weather we had in the UK through, January and February, at the start of last year, made us think of getting away to find some warm sunshine.

Stock – My Stock Image Photography Story

A stock image I shot yesterday in my small stills area in the garage. I drifted into food photography during the covid pandemic as I was unable to go out and about to take pics. As a result I’ve become a bit of a baker as well. This is a New York style cheesecake I made for Xmas. Images like this sell well.

It’s always nice to make a few pennies from your hobby and that’s the way I generally view selling some of my images through a stock picture library. It’s not quite as simple as that though.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 17

Fabulous Miskin Manor, South Wales, UK

Our last wedding in 2014 was in August, to record the wedding blessing of Ben and Lucy at Miskin Manor in South Wales, UK. The couple lived in Dubai so were already married, but wanted a wedding ceremony to celebrate their marriage with friends and family.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 16

Another summer 2014 wedding and another encounter with the clergy. Mike and Jane were getting married in their former local church although I didn’t think they had been regular members of the congregation there. It was a Saturday wedding with a reception at The Walton Park Hotel, Clevedon, Somerset, UK.

South Wales – Pontneddfechan

The Upper Ddwli Falls or Upper Gushing Falls. I took this with the camera hand held but wedged up against a tree trunk. I wanted a long exposure to blur the water but had to keep everything else sharp at the same time.

Pontneddfechan is a small village situated in Powys, Wales, UK. It sits on the southern edge of The Brecon Beacons and gives access to a series of waterfalls in the Upper Neath valley.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 15

On into July and the marriage of Pete and Susie. The wedding was in two locations. They were getting married in a church near Wedmore in Somerset before moving on to continue their wedding celebrations at a village hall, on the Somerset levels, with caterers providing the wedding breakfast.

Marrakesh December 2024 – Part 1 – 3

Although we were only in Marrakesh in October, a fantastic holiday package deal we found made it possible for us to return there this December. We grabbed the opportunity and flew out on Friday 13th (we’ve no qualms about travelling on that date) for a weeks holiday at our usual Marrakesh hotel, the TUI Blue Medina Gardens.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 14

The ring shot. Taken with my superb Canon 100mm L Macro lens. I actually shot this a few days before the wedding. I met Andrew and Jen at the venue for a pre wedding meeting and asked them to bring their rings. It was always nice to be able to take my time with these shots.

On into April 2014 and the wedding of Andrew and Jennifer. They were getting married in their local church, where they were members of the congregation, and then holding a reception at Thornbury Golf Club. Jen’s mum and dad had been married in the same church, on the same date, thirty four years before.
