OutdoorActive App – Brecon Beacons, Wales

Linda looking back along the ridge that was our return route.

We both enjoy walking, especially a good day-long hike. We’re not stay overnight in the wilds, using a tent, type’s but we’re quite happy taking on a 10-12 mile trek in the hills or countryside.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 13

Charmaine waiting to meet the Registrars.

Our second wedding of 2014 was in late March. Tim and Charmaine were getting married at a hotel near Frome, Somerset.  The wedding ceremony and wedding breakfast were to be held at the same venue, making life easier for me.

Stock – Preserves – Chutneys and Pickles

This is a lovely chutney. it’s really nice with cheese in a sandwich. My wife, Linda, makes the labels.

In a break from catching up on past weddings I thought I’d write a short blog on what I’ve been photographing lately. In one word it’s ‘Preserves’.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 12

A portrait of Louise outside the hotel after the ceremony. I was still standing on a small step ladder which I had used to take the wedding guest group shot just before this.

Our first wedding in 2014 was in late March when we shot Andy and Louise’s ceremony at the Walton Park Hotel, Clevedon, N.Somerset, UK. Its a modest wedding venue and a little bit restricted for photo opportunities on site. However, Andy and Louise had a few ideas for couple shots on the Victorian seafront at Clevedon. Louise and her party were getting ready at the hotel and Andy was due to arrive an hour or so before the ceremony start time. They lived in Clevedon so there were no great logistical problems.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 11

A detail shot. These images used to work well for a book cover. I’d usually shoot one with a bit more copy space to the left.

Into July 2013 and the wedding of Frank and Tina. We were back at Arnos Court Hotel in Bristol. Unfortunately, as far as outside wedding shots were concerned, it rained pretty much all day. Other than the bad weather though, another lovely wedding day, that ran quite smoothly for me.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 10

The hotel had a fishing lake in the grounds. It was a surprising venue with some lovely portrait locations. You’d never know that behind the trees in the background of this shot was a really busy dual carriageway taking traffic into, and out of, Bristol.

I shot two further weddings in 2013. I thought we’d been busier than that, although we did have lots of future bookings for 2014. In June I shot Ben and Sarah’s wedding at the Holiday Inn, Filton, Bristol.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 9

The Groom Mark and his Best Man before the wedding. There was a terrible colour cast running through this image that I just couldn’t remove. Even trying again this week I still couldn’t completely remove it. So it became a B&W image.

Our first wedding of 2013 was in January of that year. The Bride, Nicola, had been a bridesmaid at a wedding I photographed in 2012 and booked me, for her wedding, following that ceremony.

Marrakesh, Morocco – Part 2

This stall holder was happy to pose for me when I asked. This was taken on our first visit in 2023 so I took out an A3 print of this image to give to the guy on this trip. Somehow we found his stall, and gave him the print. He was really pleased and insisted we take a few free cakes away with us.

Away from the bustle of the Medina, a short walk from our hotel, was Nouvelle Ville or New Town. Leaving the Medina through the northern exit in the Medina wall brings you straight into modern Morocco. It’s a smart area with all the outlets you’d expect to see in the UK. McDonald’s, Starbucks, KFC, they’re all here. There’s also a really smart shopping area with the usual designer outlets as well as some expensive looking hotels. We’d walk through in the evening and it’s busy, buzzy and a nice break from the bustle in the Medina.

Lens-Artists Challenge #326 – This Made Me Smile

This scene made me smile as this couple walked past me on the beach.

Ok all, this is my first attempt at submitting a few images to the Lens-Artist Challenge. I picked up on this after checking out Leanne Coles blog, after Leanne had been kind enough to like one of my posts. I’m pretty much new to WordPress, let alone blogging, and still struggling a bit with both. However I thought this was a great idea and wanted to take part. I hope I don’t mess it all up.

Marrakesh, Morocco. Part 1

Kutubiyya Mosque shot from the balcony of our hotel room.

We returned to Marrakesh in October having really enjoyed our holiday there in May 2023. We used the same TUI Blue hotel as last time which is situated in a superb position in the Medina or old town. We’d booked a balcony room, overlooking the hotel gardens. We were lucky as well though as the room had a superb view of the Kutubiyya Mosque.
