The Lens Artist Team are asking followers to select their favorite images of 2025 – whether they’ve been included in previous posts or not.
So, I’ve organised a few of this years images into these categories..
Cake
A shop bought cake I took home to photograph. Courgette (zucchini) and Lemon Cake.
Travel
A butcher in a Berber market in the High Atlas Mountains, Morocco.
Macro
We had swarms of Ladybirds in the UK during the 2025 summer. Here’s a few I spotted feeding on whiteflies on a cotoneaster bush
UK – Hiking
River Wye, Wales, UK. a new walking route for us in 2025
Home Studio Shot
I keep my studio shots really simple. One light (flash or window), a reflector and a sheet of black perspex. That perspex has proved to be a really good cheap prop.
Street Art
Taken recently in Bristol
Colour
Taken in The Jardin Marjorelle (the former home of Yves St Laurent), Marrakech, Morocco.
Fauna
Our blooming Cactus which flowered for the first time in five years in 2025. The blooms had faded and dropped 24hrs later.
Cat Shot (I have lots of these)
We see lots of stray cats on our travels.
My Favourite Image
We sadly lost our mum in November. She was 90yrs old, she didn’t suffer and led a full interesting life. She just became frail and died of old age. Whilst clearing her flat I found a box of colour slides from her and Dad’s wedding in 1958. We didn’t know these slides existed as her wedding album was made up with B&W prints (I know now those prints came from these slides). I don’t possess a slide scanner so I set about copying the slides with a macro lens and home made lightbox. So, although I didn’t take the original I did create this colour digital image. There’s a blog on how here – Converting colour slides
That’s it. I’ve had a really good year photography wise in 2025 and shot lots. I rediscovered my hobbiest side by getting back into Flickr, writing on WordPress and using vintage lenses. Happy New Year to everyone and thank you to the Lens Artist Team for hosting this weeks challenge – To learn more about the Lens-Artists Challenge, click here.
Excellent choice with the categories, Steve. The photos are beautiful, and that closing shot with your parents is special. I was also surprised with the ladybugs photo. What a capture!
Yum! A follow-up posts of cake pics, maybe . . . 😉
A wonderful set Steve – and I love that you resurrected the image of your parents’ wedding – so clever!! Loved the ladybugs, the ring and the little kitty especially.
Steve, I can see why these are your favorite photos, especially of your mom and dad. I know the care you must have taken to do a good job of digital recreation. Even though you didn’t click the shutter, your creativity moved the photo into the digital era.
I take pics of cats when we travel, too! Love the shot of the butcher in Morocco. And of course your mom and dad. So glad you were able to preserve these color memories.
Steve, love the ladybugs, so good. the kittens, aww. And I am sorry for your loss.
Thank you Ritva 🙂
Steve, what a wonderful collection of your favorites. The ladybugs image is my favorite.
Thank you Beth. Its surprising what you can find close to home. That was about 100yards from our house on a dog walk 🙂

We had lots of Ladybirds this summer. I’m not sure if that’s global warming because I remember similar swarms back in the mid 80’s 🙂
Nice gallery of your favorites. What a great idea to select them by a category.
Thank you. I was going around in circles trying to sort my favourites. I could have filled that post with cake pics alone 🙂

Thank you Tina 🙂
Sorry to hear about your mum Steve, though sounds like it was a life well lived. The photos are fantastic.
Thank you Leanne. Yep she had a full on life. She was still cruising on her own in her mid eighties 🙂
Awesome photos, Steve. I love the ladybugs, we didn’t have many at all, that is a wonderful shot.
Thank you Sofia 🙂
Beautiful photos Steve, of course that would be your fav image. Sorry for your loss, blessing she didn’t suffer and led a full life.
