Three weeks ago, whilst we were on a walk about in Bristol, we wandered into the Upfest Street Art shop in Bedminster. We’d been drawn in by a framed print in the shop window. The artwork was called ‘Wonder’ by Australian artist, Sophi Odling. Linda, my wife was particularly drawn to it and after a very brief discussion we bought the framed limited edition print and it’s now hanging proudly on a wall in our lounge.
Fast forward to today and we decided to track down the original ‘Wonder’ mural in Weston-s-Mare. It was painted for the Weston Wallz Street Art Festival in July 2025, Sophi having travelled from Australia for the event.

The mural is painted on the side wall of the Captains Cabin Bar, on the road out towards Birnbeck Pier. It’s quite easily accessible although there are private gardens directly in front of it. The full size mural is really impressive, as is our print, shown below.

As an aside, the trip gave me another good excuse to use my vintage lenses, including a new vintage lens purchase for me, a Canon FD 24mm f2.8 which I used to take the full building image directly above. The other images were taken with an Auto Takumar 50mm f1.4 lens.

What a fabulous mural Steve and the vintage lens creates a lovely effect 😊
Hi Xenia, they do work well with bright colours. I’m really enjoying them 🙂
