Cyprus – March 2024

St Nicholas church. A short walk from our hotel. It was busy here in the evenings as its a well known spot for watching a Cyprus sunset.

I think the relentless dull, grey, dreary weather we had in the UK through, January and February, at the start of last year, made us think of getting away to find some warm sunshine.

Marrakesh December 2024 – Part 2 – 3

A fruit seller in the small town of Demnat where we stopped for lunch

Ouzoud Falls

Tuesday was excursion day so we were up early for our trip out to Ouzoud Falls in the Middle Atlas Mountains – the tallest waterfall in North Africa. It was a three hour coach trip from the hotel and we set off just after 7am. It was quite nice to leave the bustle of Marrakesh behind us and drive out into the more rural area outside the city.

Marrakesh December 2024 – Part 1 – 3

Although we were only in Marrakesh in October, a fantastic holiday package deal we found made it possible for us to return there this December. We grabbed the opportunity and flew out on Friday 13th (we’ve no qualms about travelling on that date) for a weeks holiday at our usual Marrakesh hotel, the TUI Blue Medina Gardens.

Travel – North Yorkshire, UK – Cleveland Way Coast Path and Bridlington

The local Fire Brigade were on an exercise in North Bay as we walked through. Here they are making rainbows.

We decided on another hike for Wednesday but thought we would stay local and walk the Cleveland Way coast path we’d first walked on Sunday. We’d missed out on the coastline views because of the sea mist and fog on the first walk. In total contrast, Wednesday was a lovely warm, sunny day.

Travel – North Yorkshire, UK – Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay

A view overlooking the coastal path walk from Ravenscar to Robin Hoods Bay

After the murky weather of the previous day, Monday couldn’t have been more different. It was nice, warm and sunny so we decided to do a circular coastal walk, from Ravenscar to Robins Hood Bay.

Travel – North Yorkshire, UK – Scarborough

Colourful Beach Huts run along the esplanade at the end of North Bay, Scarborough. You can hire them or buy one if you fancy your own seafront shed. Prices start at £65,000 – £180,000!

When we retired, two years ago, we thought we might use our time to explore parts of the UK neither of us had visited before. Two years on we haven’t done that, we’ve travelled in Europe instead. So this September we took the opportunity to spend a week in North Yorkshire, UK.

My Wedding Photography Story – Part 9

The Groom Mark and his Best Man before the wedding. There was a terrible colour cast running through this image that I just couldn’t remove. Even trying again this week I still couldn’t completely remove it. So it became a B&W image.

Our first wedding of 2013 was in January of that year. The Bride, Nicola, had been a bridesmaid at a wedding I photographed in 2012 and booked me, for her wedding, following that ceremony.

Marrakesh, Morocco – Part 2

This stall holder was happy to pose for me when I asked. This was taken on our first visit in 2023 so I took out an A3 print of this image to give to the guy on this trip. Somehow we found his stall, and gave him the print. He was really pleased and insisted we take a few free cakes away with us.

Away from the bustle of the Medina, a short walk from our hotel, was Nouvelle Ville or New Town. Leaving the Medina through the northern exit in the Medina wall brings you straight into modern Morocco. It’s a smart area with all the outlets you’d expect to see in the UK. McDonald’s, Starbucks, KFC, they’re all here. There’s also a really smart shopping area with the usual designer outlets as well as some expensive looking hotels. We’d walk through in the evening and it’s busy, buzzy and a nice break from the bustle in the Medina.
