Travel – North Yorkshire, UK – Cleveland Way Coast Path and Bridlington

The local Fire Brigade were on an exercise in North Bay as we walked through. Here they are making rainbows.

We decided on another hike for Wednesday but thought we would stay local and walk the Cleveland Way coast path we’d first walked on Sunday. We’d missed out on the coastline views because of the sea mist and fog on the first walk. In total contrast, Wednesday was a lovely warm, sunny day.

Travel – North Yorkshire, UK – Scarborough

Colourful Beach Huts run along the esplanade at the end of North Bay, Scarborough. You can hire them or buy one if you fancy your own seafront shed. Prices start at £65,000 – £180,000!

When we retired, two years ago, we thought we might use our time to explore parts of the UK neither of us had visited before. Two years on we haven’t done that, we’ve travelled in Europe instead. So this September we took the opportunity to spend a week in North Yorkshire, UK.

We both enjoy walking, especially a good day-long hike. We’re not stay overnight in the wilds, using a tent, type’s but we’re quite happy taking on a 10-12 mile trek in the hills or countryside.

Skomer Island

We finally made it onto Skomer Island and luckily enough it was a glorious, sunny day. Numbers visiting the island are limited to 250 visitors a day with boat tickets going on sale at 8.30am, on a first come first served basis. We arrived at 6.30am to make sure we got a place on the boat and although we were first in the queue all the ticket places available had been taken up by 7.30am.
