Tina hosts this weeks ‘looking back’ challenge – Shapes and Designs. You can read her original challenge post here
As per Tina’s blog it didn’t take me long to find some examples when I dived into my photo archives. So, I’ve tried not to use too many examples that I’ve used for previous challenges. I’ve also uploaded a new image taken for the challenge and shot this evening. I’ll start with that image…

This is a Tom Raffield wooden lamp shade that we bought earlier this week. Our ceiling lights were well overdue a makeover and we’ve admired these shades for some time. So, we took the plunge and bought one. They’re hand made from thin, steam bent, strips of wood and we chose oak. It looks as nice as we thought it would. A brilliant shape and design.
Next up, an example of design and shape in nature because natures examples are always the best. Orchids in the ‘Orchid House’ Estepona, Spain…

Next some amazing man made patterns and shapes. Below is the Mezquita-Catedral in Cordoba, Spain. It’s hard to do this building justice in a photograph but it’s a remarkable place to visit…

Some impressive topiary next. These little works of tree art had been clipped outside a house we walked past in Rhodes, Greece, late last year…

This is another image from Rhodes. It was on the side of a building in Rhodes Town. It’s so striking because it’s so simple. I’ve shot lots of street art but this is still my favourite…

The original VW Beetle is one of the most iconic car designs. I think the new shape Beetle is a really good modern alternative, especially with this colourful paint job…

I’ll finish with this impressive aqueduct near Nerja, Spain. Acueducto Del Aguila was originally built to transport water to a sugar refinery in Maro. It’s still in use today but the water is used by local farmers to irrigate their farmland…

Thank you to Tina for hosting. It’s a nice looking back challenge for me to take part in as I wasn’t a WordPress user first time around. To learn more about the Lens-Artists Challenge, click here.

Great selections and variety. I’ve been to the Mezquita. Quite the impressive place.
Thank you John. I’m not a great one for churches, cathedrals or museums but I enjoyed this place.
What amazing images you selected! From the lamp (gorgeous) to the aqueduct, the shapes are so beautiful. I can see why the street art is one of your favorites.
Thank you Egidio 🙂
Such a wide variety, Steve! You’ve given me an idea or two for my own response. I love your new lamp shade design.
Thank you John 🙂
Your posts are always wonderful Steve but this one is spectacular. Your new overhead light is really beautiful – a wonderful example of thoughtful design. Loved all of your choices but I think the Rhodes example is my favorite.
Thank you Tina, yep it’s my favourite as well 🙂
Steve, I really enjoyed all of the different types of shapes and designs you included in your collections. I love the topiaries and the aqueduct.
