I haven’t posted a recent pics blog for a while so, I thought I’d blog a few recent stock uploads which are food related.

I took the image of these flapjacks, this week, after a visit to Tavistock, Devon, UK. On the day we were there the town was holding its annual Goose Fair and one stall, run by a business called Flapjackery, was selling bags of broken flapjack bars. We bought three bags!
I’ve never had flapjacks quite like this, it’s amazing flapjack on its own, without the added flavour twist. They have a huge range of different flapjacks and we wasted no time in sampling them.

Moving on, I tried growing my own peppers and chilli’s in the garden this summer. I grew them in pots and they did really well, probably down to the unusually hot summer we had in the UK this year. The chilli variety was ‘Basket of Fire’. They’re certainly hot, in fact too hot for me but Linda can cope with them.

The hot summer also led to a glut of fruit from our native fruit trees and hedgerows. I used Blackberries and Bramley Apples we foraged to make this crumble. We picked over 3Kg of blackberries this year. Some went into jam, some have been used in baking and the rest are now in the freezer.

Finally a few more cake pics. The first two images are Cranberry, Pumpkin Seed and Oat Muffins. The image on the left is a muffin I bought in Marks and Spencer’s. I liked it so much I tried to make my own version. I found lots of recipes for guidance on the web, mostly by bakers in the USA.
It gets a bit tricky with some of the US recipes as they measure in cups and not always in grams, as we do. I find their cup measurements can vary unless I’m getting something wrong. My effort came close but it wasn’t as nice as the M&S Muffin. I’ll try again or perhaps find a pumpkin version.
