This weeks challenge is set by Ann- Christine and she challenges us to upload images from our last outing with the camera. For me that was last Tuesday when we drove to the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, UK for a hike.
We made for a small village called Stanton, our start point, which is about an hour from home. It’s particularly picturesque with chocolate box cottages (the phrase ‘chocolate box cottage’ derives from the picturesque scenes printed on boxes of Cadbury’s chocolates throughout the 1950s and 60s) and was the start point for our nine mile circular walk.
From Stanton we made our way through lovely open countryside, passing through more picturesque villages before completing the route in the late afternoon.
Here are a few pics from our walk. All snapped with my Sony RX100 MKvi. I’m using this small, fantastic camera more and more these days. Much as I like my Fujifilm gear the RX100 is small and lighter to carry, has a versatile built in zoom lens and produces fantastic images (jpg and RAW).

Thank you to Ann- Christine for hosting this week challenge. Please see this page to learn more about the Lens-Artists Challenge and its history.

What a walk, looks so beautiful, not something you can do here. Great outing Steve.
Thank you Leanne. We did have a good day.
Well, Steve, The Cotswolds is high on my list to visit – its beauty is wellknown everywhere. I didn’t know so many celebs lived there though – or had properties there. Is it still ok to hike there – no closed roads or other obstacles? Lovely outing, just to my taste!
Hi Leya, there is lots of money around there and some lovely properties. It’s great for easy hiking as there are lots of well kept public rights of way and bridle paths. Some places, like Bourton on the Water get swamped with tourists in the summer. That’s our third walk taken from the OS Cotswolds Pathfinder book and they’ve all been lovely. We’re off to Dorset at Easter. Thats another beautiful English county with more rugged walks
Thank you for the tips, Steve! And Dorset is a beautiful place as well – have a great time!
Well now Steve, THAT’S what I call an outing!! Loved your images, especially based on the fact that it’s a place I most probably will never see. You brought it to life beautifully.
Thank you Tina, we’re lucky to have it so close to us 🙂
If I ever get to visit the UK, the Cotswolds would be on my list 🙂.
It would be
a good choice 🙂
Lovely pictures. The Cotswolds are so inviting. Sounds like a great hikes !
Thank you, it’s made our top 5 hikes 🙂
The village looks so peaceful, and that countryside is beautiful.
The village was the exact opposite of what I expected. I thought it would be really busy but, other than a few other walkers, it was very quiet. Snowshill was busier.
Great photos. I love those old stone cottages and churches. I worked in nearby Swindon for 4+ years. Pretty countryside.
Thank you John. I don’t know Swindon that well but Wiltshire is another lovely county.
Pretty village. I can understand what keeps some TikToking.
And you had good weather! Looks delightful.
