Guitar Tech Photo Shoot

One thing I’d picked up from a stock image course a few years ago was trying to make use of contacts to get access to something a bit different and not necessarily available for everyday photography.

I’ve used that to my advantage a few times. Amongst other things I’ve taken staff shots for my dentist, photographed a friend having a tattoo and shot a couple of local music bands. In this blog I’ll cover a photo shoot with Martyn Evans, a Guitar Tech and Guitarist in his own right.

I worked with Martyn’s mum and I was aware that he had been touring with a band called Architects initially as a Guitar Tech but also playing live with the band. I asked if Martyn might be up for a photo shoot, he was, and I arranged to meet him in a small guitar workshop he was using at his mums house.

There wasn’t a great deal of room as I wanted to use my Godox Flash head, shot through a brolly but we made it work and I had a really enjoyable time with Martyn. He was happy for me to use the images for stock and I gave Martyn copyrighted copies for him to use on a website he was putting together.

Stock images aside it was another example of some of the interesting things I get to do as a result of my photography. Some of the images have sold since the shoot. Martyn was between tours at the time we met but he’s currently on a world tour with Architects. There’s a little bit more on Martyn here
