My Wedding Photography Story – Part 10

The hotel had a fishing lake in the grounds. It was a surprising venue with some lovely portrait locations. You’d never know that behind the trees in the background of this shot was a really busy dual carriageway taking traffic into, and out of, Bristol.

I shot two further weddings in 2013. I thought we’d been busier than that, although we did have lots of future bookings for 2014. In June I shot Ben and Sarah’s wedding at the Holiday Inn, Filton, Bristol.

Everyone was getting ready at the hotel which made life easier for me in getting the pre wedding preparation shots. I was working alone on this wedding. It was a short notice booking and Lin wasn’t able to attend with me.

I used to really enjoy taking these Bridal preparation shots.

Thinking back I can’t remember anything unexpected happening. It was a lovely summers day. Everyone was chilled and there to enjoy themselves. Just a lovely wedding. Surprisingly, for a city hotel it had some really nice locations for portrait shots. The wedding ceremony room was well lit with large windows although the wedding breakfast room was quite dark.

Another detail shot. They’re all part of the day and a nice reminder for the couples looking back at their wedding photo’s in years to come.

I found working on my own, without Lin, made things a lot harder than normal. I always found it quite easy to get wrapped up in my photography and, as a consequence, leaving a trail of kit behind me. Lin was normally the person picking up after me and it was hard remembering that at times. I don’t know how many times I went back looking for lenses, or other items of kit, I’d put down and left behind as I moved around locations. All in all though, a lovely wedding, a great Groom and Bride and a really nice venue. I couldn’t have asked for more.
