Last on the Card – April 2025

Two fisherman off the beach at Playa Blanca. That’s Fuerteventura in the background.

A new WordPress Challenge for me. Posting the last image I took in April 2025. Here’s a link to the original challenge page

We’re on holiday in Lanzarote so this hasn’t been through Photoshop. It was the last pic I took yesterday. I fell over the rocks after taking this and cut my leg and hand. The camera was ok though 🙂

Lens-Artists #346 – Cinematic

A man walking across a road junction in Marrakech, Morocco. We were having a coffee in a Sky Bar which was great for views down in to the street below. I think the unusual viewpoint gives it a cinematic feel. I search out Sky Bars wherever we go now.

This week’s Lens Artists Challenge is presented by Sofia, and it’s Cinematic. I’m a bit rushed posting this as we’re travelling to Lanzarote later today but, having missed last weeks challenge, I didn’t want another to pass me by.

LENS ARTISTS CHALLENGE#344: ABANDONED

The Bay of Abandoned Hotels

Hotel Pelegrin

This week our Lens Artists Challenge host is Anne. The theme is Abandoned

The Bay of Abandoned Hotels is located at Župa Bay. Kupari, Croatia, about twenty minutes along the coast from Dubrovnik. Kupari’s Župa Bay is an old resort of five large hotels that were constructed for the former Yugoslav Peoples Army in the early 1960’s. The hotels were attacked and badly damaged during the Yugoslav Wars in the early 1990’s and then abandoned.

Lens-Artists Challenge #343 – Seen on my Last Outing

The High Street, Stanton.

This weeks challenge is set by Ann- Christine and she challenges us to upload images from our last outing with the camera. For me that was last Tuesday when we drove to the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire, UK for a hike.

Lens-Artists Challenge for #342 – It’s a wild life

An Atlantic Puffin. This was taken on Skomer Island. Wales, UK. I went there specifically to take pictures of puffins and it didn’t disappoint. The island is a protected haven for seabirds and only 200 people per day are allowed to visit.

This week Egidio challenges to It’s a wild life. I’m out of my comfort zone here as I don’t photograph much wildlife or many landscapes. I’ve search the archives and come up with a few wild bird shots and a couple of wild flowers.

Lens Artist Challenge #341 – Personal Favourites

Kutubiyya Mosque, Marrakesh. You can’t go in to the mosques in Marrakesh but they didn’t seem to mind you taking pictures from outside. We timed it so we’d be near the mosque at around midday when we knew the doors would be open. This was just a quick grab shot and I had no idea what I had until I processed the image later. I could have easily filled this post with favourite images from Marrakesh.

Tina over at Travels and Trifles has led this week’s Lens-Artist’s challenge. I’ll echo everyone else and say how this was a really tough challenge. It would have been easier to duck out completely but I thought ‘No, I’m going to do it’. I’m posting late because we’ve been away.

Monochrome Madness – Pirates (free week)

I’ve missed a few challenges during the last week as we’re away in Cyprus at the moment but, returning tomorrow. So, bored of sunbathing and wanting to get back in the WordPress groove I thought I’d post this for Leanne’s Monochrome Madness Challenge. It’s an image I converted last week, liked the result and saved it on the iPad.

Thursday Doors in Weston-s-Mare, UK

I took this today in Weston-s-Mare. Much as I like doors, this artwork has made these dull, plain doors more interesting. Having said that, the doors add something as well. I wish I could have included more but there was a car parked in the way. Posted for Dan’s Thursday Doors

Monochrome Madness – Street Photography

This guy was one of a group of Hip-Hop Street Dancers we saw performing near Chelsea Park, NYC a few years ago.

It’s non theme this week for Leanne’s Monochrome Madness so I thought I’d post a few street shots. I’m not sure if there’s a specific definition for what is and what isn’t ‘Street Photography’. I just wander around snapping anything that catches my eye. So here are a few images for this weeks challenge.
