Tyntesfield at Christmas

We live very close to Tyntesfield, A National Trust property in North Somerset. Here’s a brief description lifted staright from Wikipedia – ‘Tyntesfield is a Victorian Gothic Revival country house and estate near Wraxall, North Somerset, England. The house is a Grade I listed building named after the Tynte baronets, who had owned estates in the area since about 1500.’

We’re National Trust members so we visit here three or four times a year, normally with the grandchildren in tow.

Following Lord Wraxalls death Tyntesfield was purchased by the National Trust in June 2002, after a fundraising campaign to prevent it being sold to private interests and ensure it would be open to the public.

The house is a popular attraction at any time of year but it was very busy when we visited yesterday. The house and grounds are always decorated for Christmas and this year the decorations were themed around the story of Rapunzel, or for younger readers, Tangled. We didn’t go into the house but the grounds were looking good and the orangery in the gardens was filled with decorations made by local volunteers.
