This weeks challenge is hosted by Beth aka ‘Wandering Dawgs’. From her initial post she says – ‘This week I’m challenging you to show us your stormy images. Think about stormy weather, stormy feelings, or maybe stormy situations.’ Here’s a link to her original challenge post.

Good or bad, here in the UK, we don’t really suffer the extremes of weather that other countries can experience, especially where we are located in the South West of England. Generally our UK weather is just pretty ‘meh’! Lots of grey overcast cloud. Global warming hasn’t helped and we don’t really seem to have distinct seasons these days. However, that’s a whole other discussion.
I’ve led in to this challenge article with that because I don’t have that many extreme UK weather pics in my portfolio. What I do have though are a few images of people out and about, getting on with what they normally do, despite adverse weather. So here they are:

I have experienced proper electrical storms and proper snow whilst visiting other countries. The South of France is always good for a few violent thunder storms and we experienced two fantastic storms last year in Morocco.

Finally a few images to show the devastation an unexpected storm can leave behind. These images were taken whilst we were on a holiday in the South East of France. A few weeks before our visit, unexpected heavy rain had led to severe flooding in the area, flattening trees, damaging buildings and tossing cars around from where they had been left. The ‘VU’ markings on the vehicles were to show that they had been checked by police.

All are great images, Steve! I loved your first image – a misfortune many of us have experienced! The tossed cars are also terrific pictures showing the destructive power of nature.
Thank you Joanne 🙂
these are truly marvelous image Steve! The opener of course but also the horrific images of damage in the final two captures. Also loved the woman walking in the rain.
Thank you Tina 🙂
Steve, these are fantastic. I really enjoyed the photos of the people out in the weather. Those runners are really dedicated! Your final two images illustrate just how powerful some storms can be.
Incredible photos showing a storm’s devastation. The people’s photos looked like fun in the rain.
Great stormy images Steve, I can so relate to that first one.
great post of stormy weather -a nd after smiling at the umbrella and unners/walkers in the rain, I was surprised to see the cars destroyed – whew – do not mess with mother nature
The last two photos perfectly capture the sheer force of the storms; they really tell the story of nature’s power.
Great post, Steve. Marrakech is a brilliant shot but for the familiarity of the first one, that is a favourite this week.
Thank you Sofia 🙂
