Monochrome Madness – Pirates (free week)

I’ve missed a few challenges during the last week as we’re away in Cyprus at the moment but, returning tomorrow. So, bored of sunbathing and wanting to get back in the WordPress groove I thought I’d post this for Leanne’s Monochrome Madness Challenge. It’s an image I converted last week, liked the result and saved it on the iPad.

I was going to keep it back for a ‘Pirate Challenge’ week but I might be waiting a long time for that 🙂. This group of swashbuckling Buccaneers were on land at the Swanage Folk Festival Dorset, UK. I’d seen them, several times, during the afternoon we were there, but I couldn’t get a shot of them. In the end I just walked up to the group and asked if I could photograph them.

They were more than happy to pose for pics in exchange for copies of the images. It turned out that the elder pirate edited a UK Pirate magazine and they would use the images for a feature on the folk festival. Who knew!!

Finally, you might ask “why are the Pirates at a folk festival?” I asked them that and one said, “just because we aaaarrh.”

  1. “Ahoy, matey!”

What a thing to be bored about Steve, lol. I do think you could be waiting a long time for a pirate theme, especially here. Sorry.

So glad you posted it, it is great, love it, I laugh everytime I look at it and great they want to use your images.

    • Thank you Tyler. We’ve been in Paphos. We like walking and that’s mostly what we’ve done. The weathers been mixed and not that hot but that’s good for us. I’ve eaten my body weight in Greek Orange Pie 😋.
