My obsession with all things Greek (as far as baking goes) continued today when I tried a recipe for Greek Saragli which are Baklava Rolls.
I’ve never tried baking anything like this before but it wasn’t too difficult. It’s made using buttered sheets of filo pastry, sprinkled with a blitzed blend of pistachio, walnuts and almond nuts. The sprinkled sheets are then rolled into a long cigar shape before being pushed from both ends and crinkled.

After baking, the rolls are drenched in a sugary syrup then left to soak for a few hours. As I type, the rolls have only just cooled enough to be photographed. They’re coming with us to Bournemouth tomorrow as a surprise treat for my in-laws who are accommodating us for the Easter weekend. I did have a sneaky half roll as they were cooling and they taste delicious, like everything Greek bake related. Here’s a link to the recipe I followed – Greek Saragli recipe.
