I’ve chosen some Beach hut images for this weeks ‘Dan’s Thursday Doors’. I’m always drawn to them when we find ourselves near the beach. These were nice because they were all individually painted by the beach hut owners. We found them at Shanklin on The Isle of Wight, UK.

Beach huts have become a sought after commodity in recent years. In popular seaside resorts on the UK south coast, they can cost the same price as a house in another part of the country. In 2023 two wooden beach huts, at Mudeford Split Dorset, were on the market for £450,000 each!

Not everywhere is so expensive. The beach huts, on the Isle of Wight, like those above are a comparative snip at somewhere in the region of £15,000-£20,000. Still a lot of money for a 6ft x 4ft shed. Well it seems that way to me. You can also rent beach huts from the local council at most resorts. Prices for Bournemouth sea front in Dorset for this year are:
- £675 in the winter (25 weeks) from 27 September 2025 to 20 March 2026
- £3,706 for full spring and summer (24 weeks) from 5 April to 19 September 2025
- £1,679 for peak summer (10 weeks) from 28 June to 5 September 2025

Thank you Dan for hosting the challenge. You can find more information on ‘Dan’s Thursday Doors here’.

I always take pictures of doors (and windows) when we travel. American doors just don’t have the same panache! Love the beach huts, especially the first shot with the woman in purple walking by!
These photos are just gorgeous but wow, how expensive!
